West Ham United have signed Alex Song from Barcelona on a season-long loan deal, with the option for a further year, it has been confirmed.

The Cameroon midfielder spent last term on loan from Barcelona at West Ham and the Hammers were keen to have him back at Upton Park after he impressed in 31 appearances for the club.




Barcelona had been looking to sell Song, but have now agreed to another loan deal which will see the former Arsenal man back at Upton Park for the season.

The news was announced by co-chairman David Sullivan's son, Jack, who confirmed the details of the agreement.
 

 

"Song has signed a season long loan deal to join West Ham, with an option for 1 more year!" Jack wrote on Twitter.

West Ham have been strongly linked with Hull City striker Nikica Jelavic as they attempt to increase the attacking options at manager Slaven Bilic's disposal, especially in light of an injury crisis hitting the club's strikers in recent weeks.
