David de Gea’s move to Real Madrid collapsed last night party because of Keylor Navas’ last minute request for modifications in his proposed Manchester United contract, it has been claimed.

The 24-year-old was expected to join the Spanish giants after they struck a deal worth €40m with Manchester United and Navas was supposed to move to Old Trafford as part of the agreement.

Navas reportedly agreed personal terms with Manchester United and there was speculation that he even underwent a medical ahead of his proposed move to Old Trafford.

However, De Gea’s move to Real Madrid collapsed as the relevant paperwork didn’t reach the offices of the Spanish FA before the 12:00 AM deadline.

According to Marca, the delay was caused by Navas, who arrived at the premises of Real Madrid late last night, and after studying the proposed contract from Manchester United, his representatives asked for a few changes.

The deal was further delayed and though Manchester United were able to send the relevant paperwork to Real Madrid on time, Los Blancos failed to do the same at their end to tie up the deal.

The Spanish federation only received the official papers at 00:30 AM and the final deal collapsed.

There is speculation that Real Madrid might appeal with FIFA and request the organisation ratify their agreement with Manchester United.
