Liverpool have agreed to loan Tiago Ilori to Aston Villa for the season, with the Midlands club boasting a purchase option at the end of the agreement.

Although the paperwork relating to the deal has not yet been completed, according to the BBC, a deal sheet has been put into the Premier League, buying both clubs a further two hours to seal the deal.

The 22-year-old is now likely to complete a season-long loan move to Aston Villa, with Liverpool receiving a fee for the loan period.

However, Aston Villa will have a buying option on Ilori if he impresses during his time at Villa Park.

Liverpool snapped up Ilori from Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon in 2013 for a fee of £7m and the centre-back was instantly tipped for big things.

He has had two previous loan spells away from Liverpool, spending time with Spanish outfit Granada and, last term, French club Bordeaux.

Ilori will be bidding to play regular first team football at Villa Park as he gets to grips with the Premier League.
