Premier League champions Chelsea have confirmed the signing of defender Papy Djilobodji from Ligue 1 side Nantes.

The Pensioners are believed to have agreed to pay the French side a fee in the region of €4m for the transfer of the 26-year-old defender.

Having started off his club career at Senegalese side ASC Saloum, Djilobodji moved to France in 2009 joining CFA Group D side US Senart-Moissy before moving to Nantes the same year.

He played a total of 171 league matches for Les Canaris, over the course of his five-year stay.
