Premier League outfit Sunderland have confirmed the signing of DeAndre Yedlin from Tottenham Hotspur on a season-long loan deal.

The 22-year-old becomes manager Dick Advocaat's eighth signing of the summer as the Black Cats look to rejuvenate their squad for the 2015/16 campaign ahead.

The US international joined from Major League Soccer side Seattle Sounders in August last year, but stayed on with them until January this year before moving to England to join the White Hart Lane-based outfit.

Yedlin eventually made his senior debut for the Lilywhites in April against Aston Villa, a match that they lost 1-0.

The youngster has failed to add to that though and will now hope to gather valuable first-team playing experience by playing for fellow Premier League side Sunderland.

Giving his reaction at having secured the move, Yedlin told his club's official website that he was absolutely delighted to have secured a move to such a reputed club.

“I’m delighted to be given the opportunity to play for a club with such great history", Yedlin revealed.

The youngster also took time to reveal that he had heard a lot about Sunderland from his countrymen Claudio Reyna and Jozy Altidore.

“I’ve heard fantastic things about Sunderland and the supporters from Claudio Reyna and Jozy Altidore. Claudio speaks very highly of Dick Advocaat from his time at Rangers.”
