Nikica Jelavic has expressed his delight after joining West Ham United from Hull City on a two-year contract, with an option for a further two years.

The forward had been at the KC Stadium since he joined the Tigers from Everton last year and had been playing in the English Championship after they were relegated at the end of last season.




He expressed his delight at the completion of his signing, saying that the Hammers are a big club and is excited by the opportunity to play for them.

“I am very excited to be signing for West Ham United, especially as it is a big club and I didn’t know until a couple of days ago that I would have the opportunity to come here”, he was quoted as saying by the West Ham website.
 


The 30-year-old will be playing under his compatriot and former Croatia national team boss Slaven Bilic at Upton Park and is looking forward to plying his trade under the stewardship of his countryman.

“I’ve played for Slaven before for the Croatia national team and he is a great manager and a great man. I am really happy and delighted to be working with him and all his staff again.

“I’ll be joining a team that’s on a high after the result on Saturday”, he concluded, alluding to the Hammers’ 3-0 defeat of Liverpool at Anfield.

Jelavic will be keen to help the Hammers improve upon their 12th placed league finish from last campaign.
