West Ham United have completed the signing of Alex Song from Barcelona on a season-long loan deal.

The Cameroon international spent last season on loan at the Upton Park outfit from Barcelona and will now be spending a second year in succession at the east London outfit.

He expressed his delight upon the completion of the transfer, saying that it was important for him to return to the side as he enjoyed a great inaugural campaign with the club last season.

“I am very happy. For me it was very important to come back because when I was here I had a great rapport with the fans and the club”, he was quoted as saying by the West Ham United website.

The Hammers have added a plethora of new players to their ranks this summer, which includes the likes of Dimitri Payet, Pedro Obiang, Angelo Obiang and Manuel Lanzini amongst others, and they have also had a change of manager as Slaven Bilic has come in in place of Sam Allardyce.

And Song has said that he will attempt to help the team improve upon their 12th placed league finish from last term.

“This is a new year, new players have come in and we have the new manager.

“Everything is changing but the way that the club wants to be, we have to look at the ambition of the club and we have to finish better than we did last year."
