Southampton have dropped a strong hint that Sadio Mane will not be joining Manchester United on transfer deadline day.

The Red Devils recently made a move for Mane, but the Saints were not willing to play ball. However, with the clock ticking and Manchester United looking for additions, Mane could be in their sights again.

But Southampton are sending out a strong message that they will not entertain selling the former Red Bull Salzburg man.

Ronald Koeman's men took to Twitter to post a photograph of Mane holding up a Southampton scarf.

They then wrote: "It's deadline day, which means it's one year since Saints FC completed the signing of Sadio Mane."

Koeman has been clear that he does not want to lose Mane this summer and it appears Southampton are ready to back their manager up by preventing his departure.

Mane was in impressive form in his first season in the Premier League and attracted the attention of Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal in the process.

It remains to be seen whether Manchester United still choose to make a move for Mane today.
