Liverpool legend John Aldridge believes that Danny Ings may be the best man to play alongside Christian Benteke against Manchester United.

While the Premier League season has now paused for the international break, thoughts are already turning to the clash between the two fierce rivals which is due to take place when it resumes.

Philippe Coutinho will be suspended from the fixture after he was sent off in Liverpool's home defeat to West Ham. And Aldridge thinks that could offer the perfect opportunity for Brendan Rodgers to play new signing Ings with Benteke.

Aldridge was quoted as saying by Liverpool's official site: "He looked very lively [against West Ham], like he could make things happen, and I think the lad can do well for us.

"He's definitely given the manager something to think about. Rodgers could sometimes put him up top along with Benteke, or even in behind. We could be better off doing that", the former striker added.
