David de Gea is keen to concentrate on his game until January and has no intention of signing a new deal with Manchester United, it has been claimed.

The 24-year-old’s much anticipated transfer to Real Madrid collapsed at the last hurdle on Monday night after the Spanish giants failed to file the relevant paperwork with the Spanish authorities in time to get the deal over the line.

De Gea angled for a move away from Old Trafford all summer, but now is facing the prospect of staying at Manchester United for at least one more season.

It has been suggested that Louis van Gaal intends to reinstate him as his first choice goalkeeper this season and Manchester United are yet to withdraw their new contract offer.

However, according to Madrid-based daily Marca, De Gea has no intention of signing the new deal for the moment, but is keen to be as professional as possible at Old Trafford.

He wants to concentrate on his game until January and then assess the options before making a decision on his future.

With his contract expiring at the end of next season, De Gea will have the opportunity to sign a pre-contract with Real Madrid after the winter transfer window.

Manchester United are expected to try coax him to sign a new deal, but at the moment it seems unlikely that he will extend his stay at Old Trafford beyond next summer.
