Rangers star Dominic Ball, on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, admits that he would like to play as a centre-back, despite being versatile.

Gers boss Mark Warburton swooped to sign Ball and his fellow Spurs youngster Nathan Oduwa on loan and the pair have already seen their share of first team action at Ibrox.

Ball is able to operate right across the backline, while he has also had a spell playing as a midfielder.

But the defender is in no doubt about which is his preferred position and told Rangers TV: "Centre-back would my preferred position."

He continued: "I played right-back and centre-midfield last season, and I’ve also played left-back maybe six years ago when I was at Watford.

"So as a defender or defensive midfielder, I can play anywhere."

Ball showed his versatility last weekend when he filled in as a left-back following captain Lee Wallace being forced off against Queen of the South with injury.

And the Tottenham talent was happy to do his bit for the team.

"We didn’t have a left-back on Sunday obviously when Lee got injured, so I had to step in and I obviously didn’t mind that.

"It was different for me, but I don’t view it as a problem."

Ball is highly rated by Rangers boss Warburton and aiming to not just enjoy regular first team football this term, but also to help the Gers to promotion to the Scottish Premiership.
