Liverpool new boy Joe Gomez has revealed that his team-mates at Anfield have made it very easy for him settle at the club, adding that having a season of Championship football under his belt has come in handy at his new side.

Gomez featured 24 times across all competitions for Charlton Athletic of the Championship last term and his performances saw him earn a move to Anfield.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has trusted the youngster and has played him in all four games of the season so far. The 18-year-old has been impressive in his displays and earned himself a place in the England Under-21 squad on the back of his performances for the Reds.

He feels that he gained valuable experience at the Valley and then took up the opportunity to join the Reds when they came calling.

“In the last year, I got the chance to play for Charlton, which was a great experience for me and then off the back of that season I had the opportunity to go to Liverpool”, he told the FA in an interview.
