Chelsea new boy Pedro Rodriguez has revealed that Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta played an important role in facilitating his transfer to the Blues.

Pedro struggled for first team action at the Camp Nou outfit last season as manager Luis Enrique preferred a front trio comprising of Neymar, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi; as a consequence, the Spaniard was keen on leaving the club in search of regular first team minutes.

Manchester United as well Manchester City were reported to be chasing his signature, but ultimately Chelsea managed to prise him away to Stamford Bridge.

The Canary Islander has revealed that he talked to many of his Barcelona team-mates regarding his situation at the club and is thankful to Iniesta for talking on his behalf to club officials and helping him earn his desired move to the London club.

"I think the most important conversation was one I had with Andres when it looked as though I wasn't leaving”, the 28-year-old told Marca in an interview.
