Chelsea new boy Pedro Rodriguez has heaped praise on his new boss Jose Mourinho, saying that the Portuguese is very different in person than his public persona.

Pedro has signed for the Blues from Barcelona despite reported interest from Manchester United as well as Manchester City, and he enjoyed a remarkable debut in English football as he notched a goal and an assist against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.

Mourinho is often in the eye of controversy and his three years at Real Madrid – before he took up the Chelsea job – saw him involved in many fractious affairs with Barcelona.

However Pedro, who had a seven-year stint with the Catalan giants, feels that the Portuguese schemer is a vastly different personality off the pitch and treats his players like family.

"Although it might sound strange to some people, Mourinho is very different in person”, the Canary Islander told Marca in an interview.
