New Chelsea marksman Pedro Rodriguez has revealed that his decision to join the Premier League champions was assisted by Manchester United's indecision about him.

Pedro was close to joining the Red Devils only for their man  to be snatched away by the Pensioners, who reportedly triggered the forward's €30m buy-out clause at the Camp Nou.

The Spaniard on his part has done well to prove Jose Mourinho's decision to sign him right by scoring a goal on his debut and has also provided his team-mates with two assists.

Speaking about the sequence of events that led to his opting for London instead of Manchester, the 28-year-old added that Manchester United were never really convinced about signing him.

The Pensioners on the other hand were quick in their approach and made his decision easy.

"I just saw Man Utd were not convinced to take the step of signing me", Pedro told Spanish daily Marca.

"They were delaying a lot and I needed a team with which to start the new season. Chelsea acted more decisively."

Pedro also took time to give his opinion about the way his former Barcelona team-mate Victor Valdes is being treated at Manchester United by manager Louis van Gaal, though the fact, he insists, did not influence his decision to join Chelsea.

"It is true that I do not like the treatment of my [Spain] team-mates, especially Victor, who has been a reference for me and is a model professional", the former Barcelona man explained.

"I don't think it's fair, but that did not influence my decision [to join Chelsea].
