Barcelona starlet Rafinha Alcantara is expected to renew his contract with the Catalan giants until the summer of 2021, according to Catalan daily Sport.

Rafinha has come through the ranks of the Camp Nou outfit, having joined the club in 2006. He was promoted to the first team in 2011.

The Brazilian played a significant role in Barcelona’s treble winning campaign last term as he made 36 appearances across all competitions and contributed two goals as well as three assists to the team’s cause.

This summer Pedro Rodriguez has moved to Chelsea from Barcelona and with the FIFA-imposed two-transfer window ban still in force against the Catalan club, Rafinha is expected to play an even more significant role this season.

His existing contract with Barcelona expires next year and the club are keen on the youngster penning a new deal.
