Leeds United striker Chris Wood insists he was never worried about having trouble scoring goals for the Whites following his £3m move from Leicester City earlier this summer.

Wood has hit a rich vein of form and scored three goals in his last three games as Uwe Rosler's men have remained unbeaten in the Championship on seven points from five games.

The New Zealand international hit a sublime long-range effort last weekend as Leeds grabbed a 2-1 win away at Derby County, clocking up their first three-point haul of the season in the process.

Wood though insists he was never worried about experiencing a goal drought at Elland Road as he backs himself and his ability.

"Of course I feel good, it’s always nice scoring goals", he told LUTV.

"But it doesn’t bother me if it’s 30 yards or a tap-in – a goal is a goal to me! I’ll take them as they come.

"I was never worried about it [scoring goals at Leeds], I’m a confident lad.

"It’s one of those things – it’s always nice to start scoring early but I don’t think I’m going to keep up the ratio of one in one for the rest of the season so there are going to be times when I’m not going to score.

"As long as I’m putting in the hard yards, working hard for the team and the team is doing well, then that makes me happy", Wood added.

The New Zealand international will be eager to continue his goalscoring feats when the Whites return to action following the international break, with Brentford due to pay Elland Road a visit.

The game will see Rosler lock horns with one of his former clubs.
