Tottenham Hotspur starlet Harry Winks has revealed that he is keen to break into the Lilywhites’ first team this season, adding that he wants to make the most of his call-up to the England Under-20 squad.

Winks was on the fringes of Spurs first team last season and went on to make his senior debut for the club when he came on as a substitute in a Europa League fixture against Partizan Belgrade in a 1-0 win for his side at White Hart Lane.

The 19-year-old has revealed that he is hoping to get an opportunity with the first team this season.

"I've been with the first team squad this season and of course, I'm hoping to get an opportunity”, he was quoted as saying by his club’s site.

Winks has been called up by manager Keith Downing for England Under-20 side’s upcoming fixture against the Czech Republic.

And the youngster feels that playing for the England Under-20 side will be a big challenge that he will try to live up to.

"Obviously I have to do well in Under-21 games and internationals as well and when I get back I'll continue to work hard in training and try to get that opportunity. There are a lot of games coming up so hopefully it will work out.

"In the meantime, it's always an honour to be called into the national squad and the Under-20s is another big step for me.

“I really enjoy playing for my country and these games against the Czech Republic will be a big test."
