Arsenal and England star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain believes he is in the midst of a big season in his career, but is ready to kick on.

The midfielder is currently with England, preparing for the country's Euro 2016 qualifying games against San Marino on Saturday and Switzerland on Tuesday, as they bid to book their spot at next summer's tournament.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has struggled with injury problems in recent years, but now feels fit and fresh, ready to make a big impact for both club and country.

He said via The FA's official site: "I do feel it’s a big season for me to kick on to my own expectations of where I want to be and where I want to push myself to.

"I had that in mind in pre-season and still now. I did feel really good, not with a point to prove, but I wanted to step up and perform as well as I can", the Arsenal star continued.

"I feel good at the moment and it gives you that bit of a lift mentally in that you can almost not worry about that side of it and focus on playing and playing with more freedom, so that’s been nice as well."

Oxlade-Chamberlain will be hoping to receive the vote from England manager Roy Hodgson to play against both San Marino and Switzerland over the international break.

The midfielder has already had a promising start to the campaign and scored Arsenal's winning goal in their victory over Chelsea in the Community Shield to kick off the new season in England in style.
