Germany coach Joachim Low has applauded Lukas Podolski's decision to leave Arsenal to sign for Galatasaray earlier this summer.

Podolski had slipped to the fringes of the first team at Arsenal, something which led to him joining Italian giants Inter for the second half of last term in a bid to play regular first team football.

But Podolski did not enjoy the best of times at Inter and returned to Arsenal in the summer as the Nerazzurri did not push to keep him permanently.

Now he is in Turkey following a switch to the Turk Telekom Arena and for Low, who wants to see Podolski playing every week, the move is a good one.

"It's a good choice that will do him good", the Germany coach was quoted as saying by Italian outlet FC Inter News.

"In Turkey he will be a starter, something he did not enjoy at Arsenal or Inter.

"For me it is essential that a player can have regular time on the pitch. For me it will have a positive impact on him."

Podolski has already made four appearances for Galatasaray in all competitions so far this season, scoring one goal in the process.

His contract with the Turkish giants runs until 2018.
