England Under-21 boss Gareth Southgate feels that Manchester United starlet James Wilson is a work in progress, but added that he is at the right club to take his game to a whole new level in the future.

Wilson scored on his debut for the England Under-21 side in a friendly fixture against the United States Under-23 team at Deepdale yesterday and enjoyed a good debut performance for his side.

The youngster made several appearances for the Red Devils’ first team last season under Louis van Gaal and is expected to be involved this year too as the club have seen the departures of Robin van Persie, Radamel Falcao and Adnan Januzaj.

Southgate feels that Wilson remains a work in progress, but believes that he is at the perfect club to develop his skills and realise his full potential.

"Wilson is a work in progress and still has some filling out to do, but he has shown he can score goals”, the England Under-21 boss was quoted as saying by the Manchester United website.
