Newcastle United are preparing to offer Moussa Sissoko a new contract to secure his future at the club following a summer which saw several sides take an interest in the midfielder.

Sissoko was linked with a number of clubs throughout the transfer window, including Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

But the Magpies kept hold of the France international, who was happy enough to stay in order to not put his spot at Euro 2016 at risk with a move elsewhere and a fresh fight to start regularly.

Now Newcastle are preparing to show their appreciation for Sissoko staying loyal through the summer.

Indeed, according to French outlet Foot Mercato, Newcastle have signalled that they are preparing a new contract for the midfielder which will see his salary sent upwards.
