Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal feels that the physical aspect of his game has improved leaps and bounds due to the nature of football played in England.

Monreal has been plying his trade at the Emirates Stadium since he moved from Malaga of the Spanish top flight in January 2013 and he has gone on to win two successive FA Cups during his time at the club.

The full-back is of the opinion that the game in England sees a lot of box-to-box play and direct runs that demand a high level of physical fitness from the players; as a consequence, he has got better in that regard during the course of his stint in the Premier League, he feels.

“The fans like seeing box-to-box play and lots of direct runs, so I think on a physical level I've improved because you have to get used to English football”, he told Arsenal Player in an interview.

“I've certainly got better in that regard.”
