Manchester United have hit back as the war of words over David de Gea's collapsed move to Real Madrid shows no sign of slowing down.

Following the collapse of the move as only all the documents were completed after the Spanish transfer deadline had passed, both clubs issued statements blaming the other side for De Gea's failure to join Los Blancos.

Real Madrid renewed their offensive today when president Florentino Perez dubbed Manchester United's hierarchy inexperienced and referred to prior moves which failed at the last minute, referencing Fabio Coentrao and Ander Herrera.

But Manchester United have hit back at the Real Madrid supremo and said via a statement released to the Associated Press: "The facts speak for themselves.

"The FA are prepared to back our case that documents were in on time; Real seem intent to move the focus away from their own clumsiness this summer", the statement continued.

De Gea is now stuck at Manchester United, despite having his heart set on a switch to Real Madrid this summer.

The goalkeeper has less than a year left on his contract at Old Trafford however and could sit tight in order to join Los Blancos on a free transfer next summer.
