West Ham youngster Josh Cullen feels that victories against Arsenal and Liverpool in the opening stages of the 2015/16 season have given his side confidence about going into each game with the expectation now being to win.

The Hammers have beaten both the Reds and the Gunners convincingly in two of their opening four matches of the season, a fact that the midfielder believes has helped to increase their confidence.

And in spite of losing the other two to Leicester City and newcomers Bournemouth, Cullen feels that there is no reason why his team need to be worried.

According to the 19-year-old, people would generally have expected his side to be on six points after the opening four games. But the way they have achieved it, he believes, is what will surprise many.

"After beating Arsenal at the Emirates and Liverpool an Anfield, we can go into every game believing we can win it", Cullen told his club's official website.

"People probably expected us to be on six points by now but not in the way we’ve done it!

"We’ve proved we can beat the best teams and there’s no doubt in the changing room that the results at home will come.

"We’ve proved it to ourselves and everyone else that we can mix it with the best of them."

Cullen, an academy recruit for the Hammers, has not yet been involved heavily with the senior side at Upon Park, having managed one Premier League and three Europa League qualifying appearances.
