New Chelsea defender Papy Djilobodji feels the English game will suit his style of football, but he is ready to learn more at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues reached an agreement with FC Nantes over a fee on deadline day to sign the Senegalese international and the defender is keen to get going in England.

Djilobodji, 26, has earned 12 caps for Senegal and was an important part of the Nantes squad, but a chance to play for Chelsea was too good to refuse for him.

The defender is keen to take his game to the next level with the Blues and is confident of showing his qualities at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Djilobodji said: “I am really happy to be a Chelsea player.

“I have come here to learn and to go to higher places with the club, and to win trophies as well.

“I’m really happy and I want to show all my qualities and skills not just to the manager and the players, but also to the supporters.”

Coming from France, the defender admits that playing in the Premier League will be a step up for him but he is confident that he has the game to succeed in England.

Djilobodji is ready to keep on learning at Chelsea and elevate his game to make his move to England a success.

“The quality of football is always really high.

“People have told me I have an English style of play, and what I’m going to do is keep adapting my style of play so I can play like everyone here.”

The Senegalese joined Nantes in 2010 and made 183 appearances for the club before packing his bags for west London this summer.
