Belgium coach Marc Wilmots says Christian Benteke has shaken off an injury and is ready to play for Belgium against Cyprus.

Benteke missed Belgium's 3-1 Euro 2016 qualifying win over Bosnia on Thursday with a thigh injury and was instantly considered a doubt for Sunday's Cyprus clash.

But the Liverpool man has recovered and Wilmots is pleased with the Belgium medical staff for preparing the striker for international duty.

However, Wilmots is keen to stress that just because Benteke is ready to play against Cyprus, he is not guaranteed to do so.

"He said he is fine. Hats off to the medical staff", Wilmots told a press conference today, when asked about Benteke.

"He is 100 per cent. But that does not mean that he will automatically play."

Belgium currently sit second in Group B as they seek to qualify for next summer's European Championship to be hosted across the border in France.

Wilmots men are three points behind group leaders Wales, but still have another three qualification games to play, starting with their trip to Cyprus.

Belgium then play Andorra and Israel in October.
