Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has revealed that Louis van Gaal is not someone who is easily satisfied.

The defensive midfielder joined Manchester United from Southampton this summer and has already established himself as a key component of Van Gaal’s plans for this season.

Also an Arsenal target, Schneiderlin’s future at Southampton was a topic of discussion since last summer and Manchester United were finally able to broker a deal for him in mid-August, just before they flew across to the US for their pre-season tour.

Despite arriving at Old Trafford in August, the midfielder revealed that Van Gaal contacted him in June to discuss his plans for him and was also keen to know more about the Frenchman before he brought him to Manchester United.

Schneiderlin said that the Manchester United manager has encouraged him to continue do the same things that made him a star at Southampton, but admits that the Dutchman is a tough man to please.

“We had a discussion in June”, Schneiderlin told Le Parisien.

“Van Gaal knew me as a footballer but he wanted know my character and personality.

“Then he unfolded his plans and he talked about himself. He wants me to show the same things on the field as at Southampton.

“Van Gaal is very strict and is hard to satisfy.”

Schneiderlin is expected to be in the team when Manchester United face Liverpool at Old Trafford on 12th September.
