Lyon star Nabil Fekir has suffered a grave injury blow, damaging his cruciate knee ligaments.

The highly rated forward, who was linked with Arsenal over the summer and recently admitted Manchester United are a dream club, picked up the injury in the 13th minute of France's friendly against Portugal this evening.

It was quickly apparent Fekir had picked up a serious knock and the France side confirmed after the game that he has ruptured cruciate ligaments in his right knee.

The forward is expected to be out of action for at least the next six months, while even his participation at next summer's European Championship will be called into question.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas quickly sent his best wishes to one of his side's star players.

Aulas also backed Fekir to quickly recover from the blow and return from the injury nightmare a stronger player.

The president took to social media site Twitter to write: "My thought are with Nabil.

"I know that he will come back stronger and he will prove himself to be strong."

Fekir has enjoyed a superb start to the season with Lyon, hitting four goals in his opening four Ligue 1 games.
