Former Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has predicted a tight race for the Spanish league title this season, saying that Los Blancos, Atletico Madrid and reigning champions Barcelona are the favourites for the title.

Last season Barcelona were crowned Spanish champions in a tight race that was decided on the penultimate match week of the season after the Catalans defeated Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon courtesy of a solitary Lionel Messi strike.

The title race for the 2013/14 season was even closer as it was decided on the final day of the season in Atletico Madrid’s favour after they drew against the Blaugrana at the Camp Nou.

And Ancelotti feels that the competition for the Spanish championship will be no different this term as the three Spanish giants go toe to toe with each other in search of glory.

“This season will be equal to that of the last three years and Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico are competing for the league title”, he was quoted as saying by Madrid-based Marca.
