Rangers manager Mark Warburton admits he has not picked Ally McCoist's brains about the game and the job at Ibrox, feeling he is well equipped to cope at present.

McCoist agreed to an early termination of his contract with Rangers earlier today, officially bringing to an end his managerial time at the club and closing the door on a turbulent chapter, following a productive meeting with chairman Dave King which saw warm words exchanged.

His successor Warburton has enjoyed much success at Ibrox so far this term, but given the challenges of managing Rangers, the Englishman was asked at a press conference today whether he has spoken to McCoist to pick his brains.

But Warburton is confident that he is in good shape to deal with the task of leading the Gers, even if he accepts that on occasion it is helpful to receive advise from outside the club.

He explained his thinking, commenting: "I've never met Ally and I know the magnificent career he's had.

"And, not being arrogant, I've got enough experience myself to know what I want to do and what I want here.

"So I'm very comfortable with what I've done so far and the people I've spoken to; maybe it's good to speak to different people outside of the club, sometimes you speak to the same people and get the same answer. It's good to listen to different opinions.
