Eric Cantona has revealed that he only watches Manchester United and Barcelona because of the style of football they play.

The Manchester United legend has always been an outspoken person and admits that he watches very little football on  television these days.

He revealed that for him the style of football is of paramount importance and that is the reason he only likes to watch games involving his former team Manchester United and European champions Barcelona

He admits that he doesn’t like to watch the French national team action as he feels Didier Deschamps’ men do not play the brand of football he admires.

Speaking to Le Parisien, the former French forward said: “I watch very few games and not those of the French national team.

“I follow Barcelona a lot, Manchester United. I watch teams that play a certain type of football.

“After that, I don’t really know that team [France], maybe they play that type of football, but if they did, I think I’d know about it.”

Cantona attained cult-hero status amongst the Manchester United faithful and the Frenchman played a big role in Manchester United’s success during the early and mid-1990s.

Often considered a difficult player to manage in his early years in England, Sir Alex Ferguson bought the mercurial Frenchman from Leeds in 1992 for £1.2m.

Cantona won four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and three Charity Shields before he retired at the end of the 1996/97 season.
