Celtic boss Ronny Deila has bemoaned his side's 2-1 defeat at Aberdeen yesterday, criticising the penalty given against his side and then his defence for giving away a goal from a set piece.

Deila watched his side go ahead from the penalty spot after Leigh Griffiths fired into the back of the net in the 35th minute, a lead Celtic held until half time.

But Aberdeen were awarded their own penalty in the 56th minute, which Adam Rooney blasted home, levelling the game.

Aberdeen then had Jonny Hayes sent off in the 72nd minute, but the home side scored again in the 86th minute when Paul Quinn scored following a set piece from Niall McGinn.

Deila is disappointed at the way his side defended, but also feels the penalty given against Celtic was harsh.

"We started well in the first half and we controlled it and created chances. We were 1-0 up and we were quite happy when we went in at half-time", Deila said via his club's site.

"We also had control of the game until the penalty and it was a cheap one in my mind.

"They made it 1-1 and were putting us under pressure. After the red card, I was very disappointed to concede a goal so easily from a set-piece. It was something we should have cleared very easily."

Aberdeen's win means they maintain their 100 per cent record in the Scottish Premiership and now sit top of the table with six wins from six games and 18 points.

Celtic are second with 16 points from seven matches, one point ahead of Hearts.
