Barcelona manager Luis Enrique thinsk that his team did well in their Champions League clash against Roma last night, which ended 1-1, but they came up short against the Italians due to their tight defending.

The Catalan giants went ahead courtesy of a header from Luis Suarez at the Stadio Olimpico, but a stupendous long range effort from Alessandro Florenzi brought the scores level. The Catalans mounted several attacking moves, but were kept at bay by the hosts to come back with a solitary point.

Enrique is happy with the opportunities his team created, but conceded that they came up against a Roma side that were strong in defence.

“We clearly had more possession and created lots of opportunities, but we came up against a very strong Roma team who defended well”, he was quoted as saying by the UEFA.

“I'd have expected them to be more attacking, but they chose this type of game and succeeded in getting a draw.

“Alessandro Florenzi's goal was outstanding and got Roma back into the match.”

The Asturian, who guided the Catalan giants to a treble of the league title, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey in his first season in charge of the first team, further added that his team created enough chances to get a win, but their lack of effectiveness in front of goal let them down.

“I can't say the exact number but I think we had at least six clear chances and that's usually enough to win a game, especially as we conceded very little in addition to Florenzi's goal and a shot by Radja Nainggolan.

“We needed to be more effective, although we did everything to win.”
