West Ham are considering a potential move to sign forward Carlos Vela from Real Sociedad in the January transfer window, it has been claimed.

Vela has admitted he could be on the move from David Moyes' side in the new year and a number of clubs are thinking about swooping for the former Arsenal hitman.

According to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, West Ham are one of the clubs interested in Vela and are considering moving to tempt him to the Premier League.

The 26-year-old is no stranger to English football, having spent time with Arsenal, while he also enjoyed a loan stint at West Brom.

Vela was quoted as saying by Catalan daily Sport: "There are options to leave during every transfer window.

"I had more options to leave this summer than normally, though. I can't say much more. I have to admit I thought about leaving La Real."

Real Sociedad have not enjoyed the best of starts to the new Spanish season and are yet to score in their opening three games, meaning they are still waiting for their first three-point haul.

Vela joined Real Sociedad initially on loan in 2011, but the Spanish side quickly made the move permanent the following year after being impressed with the Mexico international.
