Barcelona legend Patrick Kluivert believes that his former side have an edge over Real Madrid in the race for La Liga this season.

The reigning Spanish and European champions are currently sitting atop the Spanish league standings, having won all three of their league games thus far – being the only side to do so. They will be up against Levante on Sunday after Real Madrid’s clash against Granada on Saturday.

Luis Enrique guided the Catalan outfit to a treble of the league title, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey in his first season in charge of the team in the 2014/15 campaign.

And Kluivert, who plied his trade at the Camp Nou from 1998 until 2004, feels that Barcelona have it in them to successfully defend the league title.

The Dutchman feels that the Barcelona’s forward line that comprises of Neymar, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez is better than the Real Madrid trio of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale, thereby giving the Catalans an upper hand in the title race.

"For me, the favourites to win the league are FC Barcelona, they are slightly ahead of Real Madrid, as they have a forward line that is better than that of Real Madrid’s", Kluivert was quoted as saying by AS.

The Dutchman is currently managing the Curacao national team.
