PSV Eindhoven coach Phillip Cocu has confirmed that he and Hector Moreno visited Luke Shaw in a medical facility in Eindhoven.

The England full-back suffered a double fracture after Moreno clattered into him during the first half of Manchester United’s clash against PSV on Tuesday at the Philips Stadion.

Doctors treated him on the ground for a good few minutes before he was taken off on a stretcher, with him wearing an oxygen mask to ease the pain.

Manchester United are hoping that he will back towards the end of the season, but many feel the defender will be out for the whole campaign and the chances of him being in the England squad for next summer’s European Championship are slim.

Moreno later regretted his action and Cocu confirmed that the Mexican international recently accompanied him to the hospital to meet the crocked full-back.

The PSV boss was quoted as saying by Dutch broadcaster NOS: “We asked if Luke was open to a visit.

“We expressed our support. Fortunately, the severe pain has gone away."

The PSV coach also revealed that Shaw’s unfortunate injury has also affected Moreno, who himself suffered a leg break in last summer’s World Cup.

“Moreno has been helpful when needed. Something like that has affected him.”

Shaw underwent surgery in the Eindhoven hospital on Tuesday night and will remain there until he is cleared to travel back to England.
