Rangers manager Mark Warburton is wary of the challenge that playing at Dumbarton's Cheaper Insurance Direct Stadium will present his side this weekend.

The ground Rangers are visiting for the Scottish Championship clash is renowned for being a testing one in terms of the conditions, with three sides of the ground being open to the elements.

Warburton has been to Dumbarton's home this year and says when he saw former Rangers boss Walter Smith wearing a coat, gloves and a scarf in August, he knew a challenge awaited his men.

Speaking at a press conference, Warburton said: "I went there in August to watch our Under-20s play and turned round to see Walter Smith wearing a coat, scarf and gloves – in August!

"So I knew there was an issue. And it was cold by the way", he continued.

"It's another challenge for us. It's a different type of ground. One minute you're playing at Ibrox in front of 50,000, or you're playing at Hibs. This is a big pitch, a big grass pitch which suits us.

"But it's three exposed sides to the ground and we have to deal with it, the wind, the conditions on the day", the former Brentford boss added.

Rangers have won all six of their Scottish Championship matches so far this season, scoring a remarkable 22 goals in the process and conceding just three.

The Gers are determined to march back up to the Scottish top flight for next season, with an eye on resuming their rivalry with Celtic.
