Despite being linked with clubs such as Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Liverpool, Rennes winger Paul-Georges Ntep stayed put in France this summer and has revealed why he did not move on.

The France international winger was one of the hottest names in the summer transfer window, with some of Europe's top clubs taking a look at a potential move for the 23-year-old.

Rennes did not want to lose Ntep and the player revealed that a serious wedge of cash was not put on the table to change their mind, while he also wanted to be seriously wooed.

Ntep told beIN Sports: "If big clubs had put money on the table, we would have talked to them.

"That was not the case. And the club did not have the desire to release me", he continued.

"If I had to leave, it would have been for a club that really wanted me."

A potential move for Ntep in the summer was also damaged as he picked up a torn hamstring and a stress fracture in his left tibia.

It remains to be seen whether interested clubs will rekindle their interest in Ntep, who has made three appearances and scored two goals for Rennes so far this season, when the transfer window swings back open in the new year.

However, moving on so close to the start of Euro 2016 may be a risky move for Ntep, as he is keen to secure a spot in Didier Deschamps' France squad.
