Former Norway and Swindon Town striker Jan Age Fjortoft has told Liverpool fans to prepare to be disappointed when it comes to Jurgen Klopp, as he is sure the German coach will take over at Bayern Munich.

Klopp left his role at Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season and is now eyeing a return to management, despite rebuffing a number of offers in recent months, including one from Marseille.

At Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers is under pressure and a section of Reds fans have set their heart on Klopp succeeding the Northern Irishman.

But Fjortoft, who led the line at the County Ground as a player, is sure Klopp will replace Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich next summer.

He wrote on Twitter: "Gladbach want Klopp, Klopp says no – Klopp. Liverpool fans still hope for Klopp. Bayern will get Klopp."

Guardiola has been tipped to leave Bayern Munich next summer, with Klopp mooted as a contender to take over.

However, Liverpool fans may take consolation from Fjortoft having got it wrong before, as after the Spanish transfer window closed, he wrote: "Am not saying I am 100% sure, but "very sure" De Gea is Real-player tomorrow…"

De Gea ended up remaining at Manchester United and signing a new contract.
