Liverpool linked full-back Lucas Digne admits that he had offers from England before he decided to join Roma this summer.

The France international left Paris Saint-Germain and joined his former Lille coach Rudi Garcia at Roma in the summer transfer window, on a season-long loan deal.

Liverpool were also believed to be interested in the player and were said to have made an approach before the Frenchman decided to move to the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

And to give more credence to the rumours, Digne has revealed that he had offers from English clubs before he made up his mind about joining Roma.

While he admits Garcia played a major role in his arrival at Roma, he indicated that the club’s persistence convinced him that they wanted him more.

“Garcia made great efforts to bring me to the capital, but that was not the only reason I joined the club”, Digne told L’Equipe.

“I had offers from England, but I realised Roma wanted me more.”

The French full-back is unsure about his long-term future at Roma as he has only joined on a loan deal, but insisted that he is going to give his 100% for the club as long as he is associated with Giallorossi.

“I am here on loan, so I cannot say how long I will stay. As long as I am here, I will give everything for the shirt.”
