AC Milan forward Mario Balotelli is happy with the way he played against Udinese last night, adding that he is hoping to silence his critics with his performances on the pitch.

Balotelli endured a difficult season in the Premier League last term at Liverpool and struggled for goals; he was sent on a loan spell to his old stomping ground AC Milan earlier this summer.

The forward struck a free-kick in the fifth minute of the game yesterday to put the Rossoneri ahead against Udinese. The Milan giants ultimately came away 3-2 victors on the night.

The Italy international was delighted with the way he performed and talked of his resolve in keeping hold of possession no matter what.

"They will take my legs and yellow cards, but they won't get the ball from me”, he was quoted as saying by FIFA.

He further said that he expected well in advance that he would be riled by the opposition during the match, adding that he is hoping to silence his critics with his displays on the pitch.

"For me it was a difficult game because I knew I'd be provoked.

"I'm happy with how I played, little by little I'm returning to form, and soon I will be able to silence the people who have been criticising me."
