LA Galaxy manager Bruce Arena feels Steven Gerrard has done well to embrace life in the United States.

The legendary Liverpool captain ended his association with the Reds at the end of last season and packed his bags for a stint in the MLS with LA Galaxy.

The former England skipper has slotted into Galaxy’s midfield and has been a key figure for the club since his mid-season arrival. He already has four assists and a goal to his name in his eight MLS appearances.

Arena is happy with the way Gerrard has settled in America and feels he has already made a big impression at LA Galaxy, which is not often the case with foreign recruits in the MLS.

"Gerrard is very special, the impressions he has made on people are remarkable", Arena, who managed the USA between 1998 and 2006, told the BBC.

"That doesn't always happen, but Stevie has embraced everything here at LA Galaxy – he's spoken to the fans, academy players and even those in the front office.

"He's bought into everything.”

The former USA coach feels the 35-year-old is also enjoying life beyond the spotlight and endless media scrutiny in America, as he can easily lead a normal family life, which might not have been the case in Liverpool.

Arena is hoping Gerrard gains a lot from his stint with Galaxy in the US and is confident that the former England man will leave his mark in the MLS.

"He's enjoyed being able to spend time with his family in public. People here are used to seeing people who have accomplished a lot so he gets away with not being noticed.

"I hope we can fulfil all his playing ambitions and he enhances himself professionally for his post-playing career. He has many years left in football and I think he'll make many more huge contributions."
