Roma are pondering over the idea of replacing manager Rudi Garcia with former Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, who has also been linked with a move to Liverpool.

Last year’s Serie A runners-up have made poor start to the current campaign and a 2-1 away loss to Sampdoria last night further increased the pressure on Garcia, whose team are floundering at the moment.

The Giallorossi have collected just eight points from their first five league fixtures and while they have already beaten champions Juventus this season, the other results have been far less encouraging.

It has been suggested that Roma have not yet contacted anyone with a proposal to replace Garcia, but it has been claimed that the club are considering their options at the moment.

According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, former AC Milan manager Ancelotti is being discussed within the corridors of power at the Stadio Olimpico.

A multiple Champions League winner, Ancelotti has a proven track record in Italy and Roma feel he could be the perfect candidate to lift the team out of their current predicament.

However, the Giallorossi are still keen to give more time to Garcia to turn things around. Nevertheless, his performances will be closely monitored in the next few weeks.

Ancelotti has also been linked with Brendan Rodgers’ job at Liverpool, but the club have denied contacting the former Chelsea boss.
