Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel believes that the League Cup fourth round match against Bournemouth next month will be a tough one, but the fact that they will be playing at Anfield will give them an additional psychological advantage.

The Reds have been in disappointing form of late and were made to toil hard to secure a win via penalties against League Two side Carlisle United in the third round of the tournament at their home last night.

Skrtel though is optimistic about an improved performance from his team against newly promoted Premier League outfit Bournemouth next month at the same venue.

The two sides have already met each other once in the league this season with Brendan Rodgers' side coming away 1-0 winners against the Cherries. The Reds also knocked out Eddie Howe's side in the quarter-finals of the League Cup last year and will want a repeat of the same performance on 27th October.

Skrtel though knows the difficulties that await them and wants to cancel out those in order to secure safe passage through to the next round.

“It will be tough”, the defender told his club's official website.

“We’ve played against them in the Premier League this season and in the cup last season, so we know they have a good team.

“But we will play at home, at Anfield, so the target will be to go through to the next round.”
