Newcastle United loanee Remy Cabella understands that he needs to put in better performances for Marseille this season.

After failing to impress for the Magpies, following his move from Montpellier last summer, the 25-year-old has returned to French football this season with Marseille.

However, a return to his homeland has not been as fruitful as he expected and Cabella has so far failed to recreate the form from his Montpellier days.

He has just one assist to his name in the first five games and was hauled off at the hour mark last night in another disappointing display in Marseille’s 1-1 draw at Toulouse.

Cabella admits that he needs to repay Marseille coach Michel’s faith in him, but feels that he has been a little off-pace at the start of the campaign.

But the Frenchman is confident about regaining his form and is looking forward to putting in better performances in the next few weeks for Marseille.

Cabella was quoted as saying by Maxifoot: “We had opportunities, including me, but I failed to score.

“The coach is trying to make me more confident, but it is for me to grab the opportunity.

“Gradually, my form will return as I am little off-pace at the moment, but I need to start scoring goals and make my mark.”

Cabella clocked up 34 appearances for Newcastle last season, but found the back of the net just once. He will be hoping for a change of luck at the Stade Velodrome this term.
