Louis van Gaal has issued a warning to Arsene Wenger's Arsenal side after Manchester United went top of the Premier League table on Saturday.

A shock 4-1 defeat for Manchester City at Tottenham Hotspur allowed Van Gaal's men a chance to hit the summit and they made no mistake by thrashing Sunderland 3-0 at Old Trafford.

Keeping hold of top spot will be hard though and the Red Devils face an early test next weekend when they travel to the Emirates Stadium to lock horns with Wenger's men.

But Van Gaal is not concerned and believes that his side have what it takes to win all three points in London.

The Dutchman told a press conference via MUTV: "Next week we have Arsenal away and I think it is one of the most difficult teams to beat in the Premier League, but we won also last year there, so it is possible.

"I think that Manchester United can win against every team, but you need also luck."

And luck is something the Dutchman admits Manchester United received against Sunderland as they managed to break the Black Cats' resolve on the stroke of half time to head in 1-0 up at the break.

"And today the luck was in the last minute of the first half.

"Of course it is a wonderful goal, but it is in the last minute, it was more or less punishment after Sunderland wasted so much time in the first half."

Arsenal meanwhile also won on Saturday, beating an in-form Leicester City side 5-2 at the King Power Stadium.
