Barcelona icon Lionel Messi is expected to be fit for the first El Clasico of the season due to be played on 22nd November, according to Catalan daily Sport.

Messi suffered a knee injury on Saturday against Las Palmas and had to be substituted early in the first half in favour of Munir El Haddadi.




Subsequent tests revealed that the forward suffered a tear in the medial collateral ligament of his left knee and has been ruled out of action for seven to eight weeks.

As a consequence, the Argentine will miss several La Liga and Champions League matches for Barcelona, as well as international fixtures for La Albiceleste.
 


It has been claimed that the duration of the recovery for the forward will be closer to seven weeks, therefore he will available for the first Calsico of the season against Real Madrid on 22nd November.

Although, due to a lack of games at the time of his recovery – owing to the international break – the Argentine would plunge headlong into the Santiago Bernabeu fixture without any matches before the big clash.
