Tottenham Hotspur have parted ways with technical director Franco Baldini, the Premier League club have announced.

Baldini pushed forward transfer spending at the White Hart Lane outfit and came under fire for a series of poor purchases, especially after Spurs splashed out over £100m on new players in the summer of 2013, shortly after he joined the club.

Now the Italian, who worked alongside long-time friend Fabio Capello with England, is exiting the north London club.

Spurs announced in a statement that Baldini will not be heading to link up with another club side, saying: "He leaves us now to spend time outside of club football."

Baldini has extensive experience working as a technical director and fulfilled a similar role with Italian giants Roma, but it remains to be seen what his next move is.

Spurs also said in their statement: "Franco joined us as Technical Director in June 2013 from AS Roma where he was General Director.

"We wish him all the best for the future."

It remains to be seen whether Spurs will look to bring in a replacement for Baldini as boss Mauricio Pochettino is classed as a head coach rather than a manager.
