Liverpool have made contact to acquire Paris Saint-Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi in the January transfer window, according to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato.

The Reds were linked with a move for the forward in the summer transfer window, but the Argentine stayed put at the Ligue 1 club for the ongoing season.

The forward, who moved to the Parisians in the summer of 2012 from Italian Serie A giants Napoli and has gone on to feature in close to 150 games for them, has a solitary strike against his name this term.

Liverpool acquired the likes of Divock Origi, Christian Benteke, Danny Ings and Roberto Firmino in the summer transfer window and already have Daniel Sturridge in their ranks.

The addition Lavezzi to their squad will further add to the options at manager Brendan Rodgers’ disposal as he attempts to take his side to the Champions League with a top four finish this term.
